About Me
I'm an advanced actor-combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD). I have been training in stage combat for over ten years, and possess recommended passes in seven of the eight SAFD weapon disciplines (with a basic pass in the eight one). I choreograph both armed and unarmed fights for productions, present armed and unarmed workshops around the country, teach stage combat classes, and perform physical confrontations. In addition to combat for the stage, I teach the fundamentals of fighting for film.
I hold a Ph.D. in theatre theory, history, and literature. My area of expertise is the transformation of stage combat in nineteenth century England. In addition to lecturing on the history of theatre and stage combat both around the country and the world, I teach all areas of theatre, including: theatre history, script analysis, introduction to theatre, acting, movement, and directing. I also develop and teach special topics courses, such as collaborative and devised theatre as well as Latinx/o/a/e theatre.
